Mount Banahaw, Quezon Province

  • February 2004, its not our first climb to Mt. Banahaw but we're still enthusiastic conquering it again. This dormant volcano towering at 2158 meters above sea level (ASL) is very special to us. It is even considered sacred to some religious cult risiding in the foot of Banahaw.

Jump-off Point: Barangay Kinabuhayn, Dolores, Quezon
Days required to Summit 2-3 days depending on pace, 7-9 hours/day
Category Major Climb

Taking a rest...

Manuevering the rock! Hold tight, else you'll go down 100 feet below. This is your first test of courage when climbing Mt. Banahaw.

The 2nd test of courage. Its the first wall that you have to conquer!

 Welcome to our fist campsite...

Well...well... well. Is there a signal?

Having a dinner. Cooking and eating the mountaineers way... Remember, leave nothing but footprints. Thus, bring your garbage down.

Its not a test of courage thereafter but of endurance. Its the determination and excitement that push us forward.

At last! The summit...

That's why we're here, appreciate the beauty of nature. It's one of those rare moments that you can look down the clouds. Its God's wonder...

Muni... Muni... My wife hates me doing this.

Another wall Again?!

SUuupeErmannnn....

Banahaw's collapse wall...

Sunset in Banahaw...

Exploring down the crater...

Its cold in the summit. You'll hear deafening wind blows at night and can throw away your tent. Luckily, we camped in a forested area.

Too tired going down...

Take nothing but pictures.
Leave nothing but footprints.
