Kodak Zx1 Pocket Videocamera

Last year, I was searching for a low-cost videocamera that I can use for my trail riding. I want low-cost because I don’t wan’t to feel bitter or sorrow when I accidentally crashed it during a trail ride. Something that wasn’t hard on the pocket but can give me a good specification and can withstand a little bit of abuse. Then, I stumbled upon a store in Glorrieta and I saw a cellphone-liked videocamera. It is a Kodak Zx1 and was priced at that time a little bit more than Php10,000.
It says, can record a 720p HD video at 60fps. Well, that’s one of the specification I’m looking for. And on its box, it has a picture of a mountainbiker, thus, it adds to my curiousity with that product.
So, I started searching for its reviews at the internet after arriving at home. Luckily, I don’t have an extra money at that time. Because, when I bought it last month, it is only cost Php4995(roughly, around $110.00)! I ask the store clerk, why a big discount? They said a new model is going to be released. Thus, I bought it without any hesitation.
My Personal Review:
One of its strength is it can capture a 720p HD video up to 60fps. Video quality is good if you have a good lighting or your using it outdoors with a daylight. However, video quality suffers if you don’t have adequate lighting. Still pictures capture is nothing extraordinary, it’s a point and shoot camera with a digital zoom. I would rate still picture quality as average. Though, picture quality suffer as the same as video quality when good lighting is compromised.
However, if you’re intention only is to have an outdoor pocket videocamera for your more adventurous activities, this is a better alternative for you. It’s cheap, it’s resistant to rain, dirt, sand, and snow. It can record up to 10 hours of HD video. It can hold up to 32GB of external SD/SDHC memory card.
The only thing that is missing for this pocket videocamera is an image stabilization. If it has, I would rate it as 4/5.
